The Shaz and Nat Chronicles: The Tale of the Trolley 

 

A Walk Through the Unexpected 

 

Last week, our walk took us past a front lawn that looked like it had seen better days. Piled high with all sorts of odds and ends, it was the kind of sight that makes you wonder about the stories behind each item. Among the clutter, something caught our friend Tracey’s eye—a shopping trolley. It looked in pretty good condition, However, after a closer look, she decided to leave it behind, as it seemed too broken to be of any use. 

 

The Trolley Reappears 

 

This week, on another one of our walks, we stumbled upon something familiar. There, down the road at a small park, was the very same trolley. It was unmistakable—the same trolley we inspected last week. It seemed someone else had taken the trolley on a journey of its own, only to leave it behind once again. 

 Seeing the trolley abandoned in the park made us pause. We wondered who had taken it and why they left it there. Had they tried to fix it, only to realise it was beyond repair? Or perhaps they had simply taken it for a short-lived adventure? The trolley, once part of someone’s household, now had a story of its own—one that was unfolding in our little corner of the world. 


 When we told Tracey about the trolley’s new resting place, she couldn’t help but laugh. It was as if the trolley was following us, determined to be a part of our walks whether we wanted it or not. Tracey joked that maybe it was meant to be, that perhaps she should have taken it home last week after all. But now, seeing it there in the park, she was content to let it stay, a quirky landmark on our walking route. 

 

The Magic of Our Walks 

 

This little episode reminded us of the simple pleasures and unexpected moments that make our walks so enjoyable. It’s not always about the destination or the distance, but the things we encounter along the way. Whether it’s a curious find like the trolley, a conversation with a stranger, or a beautiful view, each walk brings something new and memorable

Who knows where we’ll find the trolley next, or what other surprises await us on our journey? One thing’s for sure—we’ll keep walking, exploring, and sharing the stories we find along the way.

The Olive

Today our friend Tracey joined us on our walk. It's always extra fun and filled with laughter when our friends tag along, and today was no exception. The morning was bright, and with Tracey by our side, we knew it was going to be a walk to remember. It always is! Our walk began by passing an olive tree, its branches heavy with ripe olives. As we admired the tree, Shaz and Tracey encouraged Nat to try an olive straight from the tree. Nat, who loves olives, didn’t need much convincing, but they warned her with grins that olives fresh off the tree didn’t quite taste the same as the ones from the jar. Eager to prove them wrong, Nat took a nibble out of the olive, expecting the usual burst of salty, briny goodness. Instead, her face twisted in surprise. The taste was bitter, and the texture dry and furry—a far cry from the olives she loved.
